Empower Orphans decided to support Feltonville Intermediate School after reviewing data of a number of schools in the Philadelphia region.

Feltonville Intermediate School is in the Philadelphia School District. Some statistics about the school:

Approximately 700 children grades 3-5
90.4% of the children are economically disadvantaged
Ethnic background of the children are 25.1% African American, 6.3% Asian, 60.9% Latino and 2.1% White.
Attendance rate is high at 93% though PSSA scores are low (Math 49.5%, Reading 36%)

Our goal is to help the children and teachers of the school by providing:

1. Building a library
2. Providing books, backpacks
3. Providing clothes (jeans, jackets, shirts)
4. Providing toys

The following team of volunteers have been working on this project since March 2011 and the library was opened on Nov 22 2011 (Make A Difference Day):
