Empower Orphans decided to support Feltonville Intermediate School after reviewing data of a number of schools in the Philadelphia region.
Feltonville Intermediate School is in the Philadelphia School District. Some statistics about the school:
- Approximately 700 children grades 3-5
- 90.4% of the children are economically disadvantaged
- Ethnic background of the children are 25.1% African American, 6.3% Asian, 60.9% Latino and 2.1% White.
- Attendance rate is high at 93% though PSSA scores are low (Math 49.5%, Reading 36%)
Our goal is to help the children and teachers of the school by providing:
- 1. Building a library
- 2. Providing books, backpacks
- 3. Providing clothes (jeans, jackets, shirts)
- 4. Providing toys
