Empower Orphans decided to support Feltonville Intermediate School after reviewing data of a number of schools in the Philadelphia region.

Feltonville Intermediate School is in the Philadelphia School District.  Some statistics about the school:

  • Approximately 700 children grades 3-5
  • 90.4% of the children are economically disadvantaged
  • Ethnic background of the children are 25.1% African American, 6.3% Asian, 60.9% Latino and 2.1% White.
  • Attendance rate is high at 93% though PSSA scores are low (Math 49.5%, Reading 36%)

Our goal is to help the children and teachers of the school by providing:

  • 1. Building a library
  • 2. Providing books, backpacks
  • 3. Providing clothes (jeans, jackets, shirts)
  • 4. Providing toys
