Could you even begin to image how it would feel for a child to have no mother or father to guide them, protect them, or love them? You just cannot – can you?
Unfortunately, there are currently 143 million orphans and/or abandoned children in the world. To put this into perspective, this number is equivalent to about half the population of the United States! These are very real children and they face the greatest challenges of any children on the face of the earth.
They need individuals like you to translate empathy into action, and provide them with the opportunity help themselves, and be treated with the equality they deserve.

Empower Orphans was conceptualized by Neha Gupta in 2005, when she was only nine years old. It is a tradition within the Gupta family to celebrate family birthdays by taking food and gifts to orphaned children in the family’s Indian hometown. Since an early age, Neha has participated in this tradition during her trips to India from the United States.
When Neha was nine years old, the harsh reality of the orphaned children’s prospects hit her hard. “When I realized that there is no one in the world that really loves them (orphans) and they could not get a good education, because they didn’t have money to buy books, I felt very sad”. Instead of internalizing these feelings, Neha took action and decided that she wanted to help make a difference in the lives of the orphans.

Empower Orphans has already made significant strides towards making a difference in the lives of more than 15000 orphaned and under-privileged children.
